"Grand Days inthe Turkey Woods"- the third book from author Mike Joyner. A collection of stories from the great turkey woods. Spanning from New York to Texas, with stops in Ohio, and Vermont
Mike captures the very essence of these hunts, along with deeply held emotions as well as profound thoughts while spending time amongst the great forests of the United States of America. It is his desire and effort to tell each of his stories as to put you in the tree next to him, or standing alongside him while listening to a vocal gobbler on a big ridge.
Six years have passed since publishing his last collection of hunting memories. In that time or, for that matter, the twenty plus spring and fall seasons that Mike has pursued wild turkeys, would it ever be considered or contemplate the idea that it had all been done or experienced in the turkey woods. Nor that he would not continue being humiliated by our beloved nemesis for another single season. By his own admission he would admit coming close to wondering why anyone should ever put up with being outsmarted by a pea-brained gobbler. For those of you afflicted with the same malady, you most certainly understand that there is no other choice but to continue on as long as one can physically make the effort.
"Balancing a chaotic life in the modern world can be easily accomplished while set up on a thundering gobbler or while waiting on the sunrise in the turkey woods. The spectacles of nature that we witness on these mornings are, in fact, very grounding.
Each of these experiences from the awakening in the turkey woods at daybreak, to the thrill of the chase, and those moments of reflection during the long walks back to the truck come together as my “Grand Days in the Turkey Woods.” —Mike Joyner
