Safari Club Scoring System For Turkeys
The Safari Club adopts many similiarities of the NWTF scoring system. Spurs are measured from the base to the tip using a centerline vs the outside edge that is used in the NWTF protocol.
Beard lengths are measured same as with the NWTF protocol
- Spur lengths are tabulated using the same NWTF protocol. Typical and non-typical use the same NWTF protocol multiplier for Spurs (X10 each), to nearest 1/16".
- Beard lengths are tabulated using the same NWTF protocol.Typical and non-typical use the same NWTF protocol multiplier for Beards (X2), to nearest 1/16".
- Non-typical designation is dervied from nultiple bears (most common in category), multiple spurs (less common) or both.
- Weights are noted as supplemental data but are not tabulated in overall score.
- Submission must declare free ranging or not as captive, game farm harvests for commercial hunting submissions are recognized.
- Typical Score is calculated as follows: Left spur x10 + Right Spur x10 + Beard x2.
- Non-Typical Score is calculated as follows: Left spurs (S1+S2+...Sn) x10 + Right Spurs (S1+S2+...Sn) x10 + Beards (B1+B2+...Bn) x2
